Academics: A Mind For Truth

Because we are educating leaders who will impact our world for Christ, we are committed to a rigorous and challenging academic program within a dynamic learning environment. Veritas Academy offers a college preparatory course of study including elective courses such as Critical Thinking and Writing, Art and Leadership. In Addition, Honors level course work is offered in each class.

Academic Preparation:

The Veritas experience delivers an excellent education in truth. We have set the following academic goals and standards for our students’ education:

Graduation Credits: A certified guidance counselor will work with Veritas Academy to ensure that our curriculum supports state requirements for credits needed for high school graduation.

Students will successfully complete state requirements for a college preparatory program.

Honors Level: Students will be offered the opportunity to pursue more challenging work at the honors level. Contracts for honors credit will include 25 hours of extra work on a project approved by the teacher. Students must fulfill the contract’s requirements and receive a grade of at least 90% on that work as well as in the regular class work in order to receive the additional .33 points toward their grade point average.

College Planning: Students will be offered assistance in college and career planning and admissions from a certified guidance counselor.

Students will receive information about SAT/ACT preparation opportunities and financial aid for their college education.

World View: Students will participate in informed discussions about current national and world events. They will understand the impact and perspective of a Biblical worldview on those events.

The teaching model used at VA will challenge students’ beliefs and equip them to construct a truth-based worldview that will help them effectively navigate our postmodern culture.

Mastery Learning: Students will develop the following habits of a lifelong learner: how to use educational resources, how to analyze data and information, and how to think critically and communicate their thoughts effectively using both written and spoken mediums.

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, for he will be like a tree planted by the water, and will not fear when the heat comes; for its leaves will be green.

- Jeremiah 17:8

The law of thy mouth is better to me that thousands of gold silver pieces.

- Psalm 119:72
