Spiritual Life: A Heart
For God
At Veritas the educational process is a
means used by God to develop in students
a personal relationship with Christ, a mind
that is quickened by God and views the world
as He does, and a godly lifestyle that will
enable them to enjoy God’s ultimate
purposes for their lives. When your student
leaves Veritas Academy, we want them to
know who they are in Christ and be motivated
and prepared to change the world for Him.
Statistics show that 80% of young
believers will stray away from their Christian
faith during their college years. Christian
leaders of tomorrow need to know Christ
and love Him passionately. They must know
who they are in Christ so their faith grows
rather than deteriorates when they leave
high school.
Spiritually, we have the following
goals for our students:
- Students will be introduced to and
deepen their vital, personal relationship
with God through faith in Jesus Christ.
- Students will develop a confidence
in the Bible as the only infallible, authoritative
Word of God.
- Students will be encouraged to develop
the spiritual disciplines of personal
time in devotions and Bible study, prayer,
and worship.
- Students will have the opportunity
to develop a Biblical worldview that will
help them see the entire world with a
Christian mind.
- Students will be encouraged to develop
personal convictions and values and a
commitment to them during times of pressure
and difficulty.
- Students will identify their spiritual
gifts and natural abilities and understand
how they can be used to serve others and
build the kingdom of God.
- Students will develop an understanding
of the importance of the local Bible-teaching
church, and they will be encouraged to
become involved in such a local body.
- Students will understand who they are
in Christ so they are better equipped
to defend their faith in the world and
share the gospel.
Core
Each morning we will meet in Core for a
time of Bible study, worship, prayer and
accountability. During Core, students will
be challenged to pursue the Lord and live
a life set apart for Him. Practically, students
will learn how to effectively fast and pray,
read the Word of God and keep a journal.
One curriculum used will be 40 Days Fasting
from the World and Feasting on the Word.
Attendance at a National Christian
Youth Conferences
Participation in events such as Revolve,
Iron sharpens Iron, and Student Leadership
University will be encouraged. When possible,
students will attend conferences as a school
group.
Missions Module (one trip per year)
Through the Missions Module, students will
learn God’s plan for the world and
for their lives. They will explore global
perspectives and learn how to effectively
reach the world for Christ. Our trip will
usually occur in June during the last week
of school.
Special Speakers
Students will have the opportunity to enjoy
times of worship, spiritual development,
and special instruction as opportunities
arise. Guest speakers will vary.
Retreats
Students and staff attend this annual event
during which they get away with the Lord
and each other to develop and deepen relationships
and spiritual commitments.span>
